MY 6 TOP TIPS FOR GLOWING SKIN.
‘For a natural glow, treat your skin from the inside out & the outside in’
You would be quite surprised at the small changes you can make to your lifestyle in order to keep your skin nourished. We all want that natural radiant glow, but are we really doing these simple steps to get the glow?
This isn’t a popular opinion, believe it or not, many think this is a myth that if you drink plenty of water your skin will be glowing. However, your body needs water for it to function and from experience, plenty of water keeps me hydrated and leads to glowing skin! I know that when I go through spouts of not drinking a lot of water, my skin certainly shows that and it appears dull and lifeless! 3 litres a day is all it’ll take… Yes, you’ll probably go to the toilet 34763 times a day but your body will get used to it eventually.
Plenty of fruits and veggies
You need to be eating foods which are colourful, foods which contain the best vitamins and minerals for your skin. Nothing beige or processed, obviously the odd treat is fine but to keep our skin in the best possible way. Plenty of fresh fruit and veg, oily fish and complex carbs and I hate to say it as I LOVE cheese but limit your dairy intake as much as you can.
Know your skin and look after it!
First of all, know your skin type, once you know this you’ll be able to take care of it, remember, what might work for someone else may not work for you! Follow steps of Cleanse, Tone, Moisturise. I do recommend putting some other steps in there once you get the grips of the simple skincare regime but this is a good starting point! You also need to remember to take your makeup OFF, wearing makeup to bed traps all the dirt and oils which then causes pesky breakouts.
Spend more time in bed
It isn’t called beauty sleep for no reason… When sleeping your body restores itself, it boosts the blood flow to your skin which causes you to wake up with a healthy glow. Whenever we have a rubbish night sleep our skin certainly shows it, it is dull and lifeless but when we get plenty of sleep it’s plump and radiant! Invest in a silk pillowcase as it prevents wrinkles and as a bonus it keeps your hair from looking frizzy when you wake up too. Remember to wash your pillows regularly, I actually replace mine every 3 months.
Invest in facial treatments
This is one of my favourite things to do, I love relaxing and getting a facial treatment! There are so many different types that you can get to suit your skin! I would advise that you research your esthetician well, ensure that they use high-end products and have an extensive knowledge in treatments. If your budget can stretch, start to get them regularly, every 6 to 8 weeks or so. Your skin will thank you, try to incorporate some peels and steam treatment facials.
Protect your skin
No matter the weather, if the sun is still shining you need to be cautious. UV rays don’t just hide away because they see clouds or rain! The skin on our face is thin and delicate as opposed to everywhere else on our bodies which is why it needs looking after. My old thinking was surely I wouldn’t need to use an SPF if I’m in rainy England? But, yep you need to. I also regularly use products which contain AHAs & BHAs so my skin is more sensitive to sunlight and UV rays.
These are the easiest things that you can do to help change your complexion and get glowing skin. We only get one body and we need to look after it the best we can and who wouldn’t want to age well? 😉 … Let me know if you start to incorporate any of these steps and the difference they’ve made!
